PLD310 Advanced Clinical Management & Business Leadership and Communication
Key management concepts and principles for managing healthcare systems and organizations will be addressed from the perspective of a general manager in charge of those activities. Case studies and readings will be used to convey a practical understanding of how to manage and coordinate business functions to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization. This course will explicitly deal with for-profit and nonprofit organizations. Topics will include planning, management control systems, financial management, budgeting, performance measurement, pricing and marketing of services, operations, management, cost analysis, human resource management, and the development of management information systems.
This course also offers insights into the provisions of patient care in a professional practice setting. Students will be made aware of the options available in the delivery of medical to diverse patient populations. Emphasis is placed on the ethical and moral implications of professional practice.
Also, this course provides an intensive study of leadership. Concepts emphasized include leadership, communication, decision and change processes, business law and the assessment and development of leadership and communication skills.
PLD315 Marketing, Advertising in Healthcare System & Insurance Billing and Coding
This course provides a study of the management of the firm’s marketing & advertising function in a dynamic healthcare organizational environment, including an analysis of such functions as healthcare services development, promotion, channels of distribution, and logistics. Includes a survey of basic methods of market research, promotional strategy is analyzed through its major components: personal selling, advertising, sales promotion, and public relations.
